Meeting

Doo Peas

Doo Peas Corporate Towers houses both Landgraab Industries and the Sunset Valley Observer. The relationship is an uneasy one, as newbies at the Observer tend to have silly ideas about muckraking and exposing corporate scandals. Such ideals quickly wither and die in the face of promotions and kickbacks and tax deductible vacations. For those few holdouts who insist on moral purity, a swift kick out of the doors and into blacklisted reality generally takes care of them.

Reality of a different sort was now steaming out of the past and towards Lilith Parker.

so like this is what's up

“I’ve noticed lately that you seem bored covering the whole birth and marriage and death beat. Can’t say I really blame you. Anyway, I was looking through our archives the other day…”

Poor Lilith

Lilith interrupted her, words spilling out in a nervous rush of adrenalin.

“I’m sorry, I really am, I’ll do better from now on, I promise. I really like and appreciate this job. I mean, isn’t this the cutest hat you’ve ever seen? And I can do better. I can add birthdays! Everyone wants to see their birthday party in the paper, right? Please don’t fire me. I really don’t want to have to join a gang, even if I would end up leading it.”

She caught her breath, mentally reviewed the last couple of minutes, blushed, and said “I’m sorry, you had an idea?”

Shannon Ursine, pirate ninja

“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. I really need to find a less threatening writing style for emails – maybe a nice fluffy kitten background with blue font. No dear, I’m not firing you. I just have a story I want you to work on.”

Lilith Parker, ninja pirate?

“Oh, a new story? Whew. Oh, okay – look, I’m sorry. I was just all nervous and worried and honestly I’m not usually this frazzled. So what’s the story?”

Lilith sighed. Why did she always worry so much about things? They always turned out fine, and then she felt all stupid and like a big idiot and now Shannon would think she was stupid and…she was doing it again. Focus!

oooh, scary house

“There’ve been reports of strange lights coming from the house at 53 Waterfall Way. No one’s lived there for years. The police say that it’s just a teenage prank, but I don’t know – I looked up the address in the archive to see what I could find.”

dun dun dun BAD MANS!

“A man named Seth Morrigan lived there. He moved to town with his wife the year I was born, so I was too young to know what was going on.”

Sarah the useless

“His wife was named Sarah. I couldn’t find very much about her, although she did seem to win the Grill-a-Thon quite a bit.”

Fierce!

“I couldn’t find much more than that in the records. I think someone’s been deleting files and destroying microfilm rolls.”

Lilith ponders

“So you want me to dig around and see what I can find on this guy?”

Lilith’s mind was going a million miles a second. Yay, she wasn’t getting fired! And now instead of joining a gang she was going to sleuth around and go on interesting adventures and maybe even rummage through some trash cans. It was going to be great!

Shannon Ursine, empress of the universe!

“Sure. I think a good place to start would be talking to Sam Sekemoto at the Papyrus Memorial Library. He’s sort of the unofficial town historian and hopefully he’ll know more about it.”

LOL hat trick

“Right. Well, I’m off to dig up the dirt and rake out the muck and expose the dirty mucky truth, all with the help of my super cute hat. Lilith Parker, super sleuth, at your service.”

OMG Becky, look at her mouth.

“Very amusing, dear. Promise you’ll be careful. Like I said, I think someone’s been tampering with the files. There might be people who don’t want this story uncovered.”

Aww, Lilith's so cute

“Sure thing. You know my boyfriend’s a police officer. I’ll be all right. Thank you so much for not firing me. I really don’t know how I’d do as a gang member. Off to get to work.”

Shannon being all serious

Shannon sat back down at her computer after Lilith left her office. She hoped she’d done the right thing. Lilith was young and bright. She’d be okay. Wouldn’t she? Sure, she was a little vulnerable, but she’d be fine.

The file tampering was rather worrying, though. She’d have to talk to the IT guys about that.

Lilith Parker, super sleuth!

Lilith left the Towers, feeling pretty good about herself for once. She’d quickly finished up the week’s list of births and marriages and deaths and then she’d set up an appointment to talk to Mr. Sekemoto at the library tomorrow. He’d been really nice on the phone. Now it was time to go home and see what she could find on the repository of all human knowledge, also known as the internet.

Something knocked on the back door of her brain, but she wasn’t listening.

Taxi Ride of DOOOOM!

“Say, have you ever heard of Seth Morrigan?”

“No, miss, can’t say I have.”

Hey, it was worth a try.

Something was pounding on the back door of her brain now, but she couldn’t hear it over the excitement playing on her mental stereo.

Oooohhh, somebody done got caught

“JASON MILTON! What are you doing?!”

I love the cinematic quality your story has. I aspire to this, I think, but don’t achieve it.

Can’t wait to find out what she finds out in her investigation.

Hey, it’s so good to see you doing legacies again! I’ve enjoyed the first three chapters of this one and I have not been disappointed. Great story and concept and I really like the pictures. Your dialogue is so natural sounding, it’s like watching a tv show. Oops, I’m rambling – long comment short, great job!

Err – not spoiling anything for the recent updates. *lalalalala*

The picture quality does get better as you go along – I’ve learned a lot about GIMP.

This chapter is the first turning point, I think. It’s the call to adventure. (Yes, I realized a few days ago that Lilith is on a bit of a hero’s journey.)

I’ve found this blog today and started reading it. Its really great, maybe even bettter than other sims 3 blogs, because it actually has a plot. Can’t wait to see how it develops. I’ll keep reading it.

Thank you, and have fun. πŸ™‚ The picture quality certainly gets better as you go on. I’ve learned a lot about GIMP in the last three months. And if you read it all now you’ll probably notice stuff that people who’ve been reading each update as it comes out for a while may have missed.

Oh, I’m all excited for you.

There are some other Sims 3 stories in my blogroll that aren’t legacies – Inside Hope Springs, Edith Prescott, Ruin, Adam/Eve, and Runaway Train.

    Wow !
This story just pulls you in –

I find that the development for “suspense” and so forth gets better and better with each submission
    You’re extremely talented !

    Very unique.

A bit off topic, but are your characters AT work and you’re viewing them ?
Or did you make a new location, etcetera ?
    I’m completely not mod savvy and such ;w;

Have you read all of it yet? Just checking to see which ones you were referring to for the development of the suspense. πŸ˜‰ I’m rather proud of the last three updates and think that they represent what I’ve learned while writing Valley, so…

Thank you! πŸ™‚ That means extremely a lot.

Nope, you can’t see your sims at work. I built the hallway and Shannon’s office in the backyard of Lilith’s house. Jason’s office is a small building on a lot in its own save file. And Seth’s lab is also a lot I built in its own save file. They’re not the best but I pride myself on using the base game – the only bit of CC in the story is the nightgown that Lilith borrows at the Goth house. So I made do with what I had.

I have ! and let me tell ya now –
I plan to read it all, again and again with each part released.

Water, Dark, Seeds – all grand with suspense !
Though then again it’s amazingly well put together leaving me wanting to read more and more.

I believe that’s quite a gift you have there
Do you plan on creating different types of stories in the future ?
    ———-
You’re very clever ! I never thought of building an office for work shots πŸ˜€
    I may try that myself.

I have added you to lj friends ! (bjorndecay is my name just to let you know)
I’m just starting up there, so it’s quite “empty”
But I plan to put my own story up there as soon as I get used to taking pictures in ts3 !

Hope we can become pals, I am quite inspired by you πŸ™‚

I am actually in need of a pal at the moment so that sounds good to me, lol. πŸ™‚ If you’re on AIM I’m medlemisty on there – apparently medleymisty was already taken so I just dropped a y.

It is very much of a whole, yes. And I think that people who read each update as it comes out and don’t remember earlier ones very well may miss some stuff. Wow – I’m certainly touched that you would reread it all before each new update. At this point that’s quite a lot of reading.

We’re pretty near the end now though. Definitely less than 10 updates to go, I think.

At the moment my plans for life after Valley are to write a non-Sims novel length version. And while I’m doing that, I’m thinking I may do shorts with the characters and put them up here on this blog. Like funny commentary sitcom type stuff or shorts about the characters and their lives to help me explore them more for the non-Sims version. And I think that Seth might like a trip to Egypt when the expansion comes out – there is an Egyptian god named Seth after all. πŸ˜‰

Oooh, I’ll be waiting to see your story. TS3 is a lovely game and I adore taking pictures in it – especially of Seth, lol.

      Thank you so much! πŸ™‚

    Valley…it’s too good to ignore.
You can feel the emotion of the characters, and only ponder the results in the end.

Nahh, I’m a good reader. This amount is great ! I can only be patient for the rest πŸ™‚

Oh dear, but it’ll be a good memory to have.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with next !
Comedy is always good, and i think Seth would have an amazingly adventurous time in Egypt (speaking of Egyptian gods, I just read about Seth a few weeks ago! coincidence? ah ha :D)

    You’re very welcome !

Ahaha I found it amusing when she was so nervous she blurted out what she was thinking to Shannon. I can’t wait to see what danger is lurking around the assignment Lilith has just been given. It’s obvious Shannon knows she may have put Lilith in harm’s way.

Uh oh, Jason just couldn’t help himself, could he? lol.

LOLOLOLOL! This is so great to read, knowing how the story turns out.

Lilith has the neurotic trait. πŸ˜‰ And I’ve noticed a lot of my characters do that – get nervous and blurt stuff. Odd, because I don’t really do that myself.

Oh, danger. You do not even know the danger. πŸ˜‰

  18. While I’m waiting for my game to load, I thought I’d read more of Valley since you’ve been so kind to read my Part 1. Lilith’s panic attack and rambling with her boss is so something I’d do. The kittens comment from Shannon made me smile. Uh oh! Someone’s deleting files and destroying microfilm… my suspicions radar is up. Seth and Sarah’s home is lovely. Did you design it yourself? It’ll be interesting to find out what Shannon meant by the lights at the place if no one lives there anymore. Or do they? A ghost perhaps? Do ghosts use lights? You mentioned Sam Sekemoto. Did you age him up? I love how Lilith keeps referring to her “super cute hat.” It is pretty darn cute. What in the world is Jason doing? Uh oh… must read more. That’s not really an uh-oh though because I’m enjoying. The loading screen is still taking awhile.

Nope. It’s a house from the bin. πŸ™‚

LOL. πŸ˜‰ That’s rather the point of the story, isn’t it? What is going on at that house?

Yes, I aged him up. The idea was that this is a Sunset Valley that’s a bit past the beginning of the game, so I aged up the Sims who were children and toddlers. Actually Shannon is the kid that Claire Ursine is pregnant with at the start of the game.

Awww, early Valley. πŸ™‚ I’d forgotten so much about it.
