I am so horribly stuck on this one

“There’s been another murder.”

He remembered the punch in his gut. His train of thought had indeed been derailed. And then it had burst into flame. And melted. And the passengers had screamed as they died horribly. And then one wheel had rolled out of the wreckage, still on fire, and had come to rest in his lower intestine.

And it was still there.

the man in the back said everyone attack and it turned into a ballroom blitz

“We can go to my house for a bit and figure out what to do next. We have some time.”

At least he hoped they did.

While Lilith had been freaking out, he’d explained things to Cassandra. She’d accepted the truth fairly easy, but then it had been staring her in the face. No one had come to help her. In Sunset Valley, there was no help.

She had promised to say that they had headed for Riverview. Hopefully that would keep the guys busy long enough for him to figure something out.

so it turns out that Jason likes Franz Ferdinand

Lilith made no response. She hadn’t spoken since they left. His question had hung in the air, unanswered.

But he was used to that.

also, Existentialism on Prom Night by Straylight Run is such a Jason song

His stomach clenched again as he remembered. He’d jumped up and slammed the chair back against the desk, his heart racing and his gut burning and his mind filled with pictures of a broken and silent Lilith.

How prophetic.

I apologize for the car pictures. EA sucks at cars.

“We’re almost there.”

Her silence continued.

The adrenalin rush was draining off a bit now, and it was taking the feeling of her as she had clung to him with it.

He pulled into the driveway and they got out. Silently. Of course.

I mean it. EA was really really really really lazy on the cars. So glad I've had everyone walk everywhere up until now.

“Can I take a shower and change?”

It took a few tries to find the right house for Jason. Also, EA has some really hideous wallpaper.

Jason froze as he opened the door.

Those were her first words? Not “Thank you for saving me.” or “So I’ve taken up a new hobby of killing people.” or “Waffles are quite tasty, aren’t they?” or “So here’s the story of how I pissed off someone who seems to be very powerful.”

Or, you know, “I love you.” That would have been nice too.

I think that One by U2 is definitely the ultimate Jason song, though

“Sure. You’ve still got some clothes here, I think.”

Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds is the most perfectest Seth song ever

He’d always been a bit intimidated by Tolleson, who definitely had a bite worse than his bark. So when he’d heard the older man’s voice behind him that morning it hadn’t helped the roiling in his stomach.

“Hey, Milton. Where you running off to?”

I mean, come on. The next few mouseovers will be quotes from it so you can see

Behind him, Lilith’s footsteps stopped.

He remembered how she had looked at him when she had said “All right.” And how she had held him so desperately.

Pity it took death to bring her walls down.

He heard a small sigh and waited, hoping she’d speak. Hoping he’d hear in her words what he had felt in her arms and seen in her eyes at the Goth house.

'you'll see him in your nightmares; you'll see him in your dreams'

He thought he heard the barest whisper of a word, a word that might have been his name, and then the footsteps started again.

'he'll appear out of nowhere but he ain't what he seems'

“I heard your girl’s in trouble.”

'you'll see him in your head, on the TV screen'

He sat down to wait for her. And to think.

Everything he’d ever believed in, everything he had built his life around, had been destroyed this morning. The gilding had been mercilessly scraped off, and the rotted wood underneath had been exposed.

''hey buddy I'm warning you to turn it off'

The burning train wheel in his lower intestine had spun around a few times, blazing merrily, and then had fallen over into its current position.

He hadn’t even been able to speak. He had just looked, and waited.

he's a ghost, he's a god, he's a man, he's a guru

“Look kid, I know you just got promoted and you don’t know how things work around here yet. But listen. Them reports, the ones you said were ‘fascist’? They ain’t the half of it.”

'you're one microscopic cog in his catastrophic plan'

No, those reports certainly hadn’t been the half of it.

Tolleson had said that someone in power wanted Lilith charged with the murder of her boss and Mrs. Goth. That the guys in charge had known about Mrs. Goth’s death and Lilith’s presence at the house long before her daughter had called. And that he was expected to play ball, and if he didn’t the consequences would be very dire indeed.

'designed and directed by his red right hand'

The shower turned off upstairs. He heard Lilith walking around in his bedroom, opening and shutting drawers.

He had gone with his first immediate instinct. He’d somehow gotten Tolleson off his back and then sped to the Goth house like a bat out of hell. He still wasn’t sure exactly how he’d done it. Surely they would have been watching him?

And the Riverview story was the first thing he could think of so he went with it, but what they were going to do now? All the roads out of Sunset Valley would be watched. It wouldn’t be long before someone thought to come and check on his house. They’d have to dump his car. What were they going to do, live in a cave in the mountains forever?

and now quotes from the ultimate Jason song!

Lilith came down the stairs. As he watched her he realized that it was all worth it.

'I can't be holding on to what you've got when all you've got is hurt'

He remembered. He remembered the burning look in her eyes when he had first seen her at the Goth house. He remembered how she had pressed against him, clinging to him as if he were the only thing left in the world.

omg. I was really stuck on this, but I said that I trusted Valley to do what was right

If they had to live in a cave in the mountains forever, that’s what they’d do. As long as she was with him, it would be all right. Home was wherever she was. Heaven was wherever she was.

and look. It knew what to do.

She came and stood by the sofa and spoke.

“So what do we do now?”

He stood up and answered her.

kissyface....granted

Cool. 🙂 And yes, I was hoping at least one other person would have an emotional reaction of some sort at the last picture. Maybe it’s just that these people live in my head and so I know how strained their relationship had been for the last while and so how meaningful that was, but I didn’t do a good job of portraying that to others?

You’ve certainly got a knack for words and for hooks that just don’t let go of the reader.

I can see where he’s coming from. Lilith should have been more grateful to him but I think she had a lot on her mind and probably didn’t think of it. That he sacrificed everything for her – that’s big, real big.

I love how you ended this chapter. It was nice to see some physical contact between them amidst the chaos that surrounds them. And good on him for taking the initiative.

Thanks. 🙂 And it’s interesting writing Jason’s perception of Lilith’s behavior. Because we all know that the girl is just crazy and has issues, but he of course interprets it as coldness to him.

And yes – when I saw where it wanted to end I got all happy and excited. I don’t know if it’s as meaningful to other people as it is to me, though.

And someone needs to take some initiative around here. Lilith is quite passive at the moment.

Let me repeat “at the moment”.

So, huh. How did the cops know? I know it has something to with Seth. But . . . huh. How did they KNOW? Can he . . . like . . . TALK to them? Or does he use the special powers of his sort-of-a-ghost brain to do ESP? Or is he like Charlie from Charlie’s Angels? Yes. That this the idea I like best. Seth talking through a speakerphone on a desk. Cops jumping to his orders. Chaos ensuing.

The car scenes turned out nicely. Hppe they didn’t agg-RO-vate you too much. And I like the way you ended up expressing Jason’s thoughs. LOLzers. You are right. He IS emo, man. I’d never realized how much so. Sweet, though. And lovable.

Well done, as always. After reading this, I am especially looking forward to the next update. What in the world. ANYTHING could happen to them while they are trying to escape.

While I’m waiting, I will try to avoid calling Lilith and Jason “Bonnie and Clyde”.

Heh. That bit will probably have to wait for quite some time.

Jason’s always been a bit emo, yes. But if you scratch him hard enough you’ll find the “manly Jason scene” Jason of Suspect under the emo bits.

God, the cars were frustrating. They’re blurry and bare on the inside and do you know what? Do you know what they did? The car magically appears in the driveway and then the sims magically appear in front of the house.

I may have to send Seth after EA. Either Seth or zombie Virigina Woolf.

I thought maybe you were talking about Jason’s thighs. 😉

LOL yep I was trying to do a photoshoot of a Sim getting in a car a couple of weeks ago and boy was I annoyed! The only thing I find really interesting about the cars is that you can see the Sims’ hands on the gearshifts in the sports cars.

Your car photos really were good, though. The angle of Lillith’s head suggested some deep thoughts going on inside her brains. And you even managed to get Jason to look at her! Oh, and he looks like he’s using the side mirror to back up when he’s turned away from her, so that works, too.

Argh, Jason’s thighs! He just reminds me too much of Buck DeCasim for me to think THAT way about him. Haha! And that is entirely my own fault for not paying attention in the first place. I do like him, though, and I am totally stoked to see what happens next!

Definite hints at rottiness in copland. Nice touch of creepy icky underlying the sweet emotion of Jason toward the otherwise occupied Lilith. His alternate suggestions for first words are great!

Does he really think she’s a murderer, after what that superblegh Tolleson said? That guy is too awful to have a name that is so reminiscent of Tollhouse cookies. Not fair.

Nice ending to this chapter. I have a hard time getting a good picture of sims kissing. There’s always way too much nose for some reason. Kudos to you for getting a great shot! It almost blocks out the image of a flaming wheel on a squiggly intestine.

No, he doesn’t really think that. He was in a bit of a sarcastic mood at that point.

Tolleson was originally going to be all nice and helpful in a deus ex machina type of way. This was the most extensively rewritten update so far. Glad to see he turned out the complete opposite of his original concept. He is still named after his original concept though – I wanted something relatively interesting and not bland, so I turned to my old friend behindthename.com and looked up names with prophecy in their meanings and fashioned Tolleson out of Taliesin.

Believe me, I took that shot from several different angles to try and find the best one.

Heh. Why is it that the metaphors that I like the most are the ones that other people seem to find creepy and icky?

  10. All I have to say is: Aww! The fact that Jason DID take the plunge and kiss her is a nice romantic twist. I think he feels that her craziness (or coldness toward him, as you say) is how any guy would feel. Guys are odd like that, and you captured it perfectly.

Just a note about the car scenes: I have a speed limit mod from MTS that makes all of my cars go pretty slow. I have the “25 mph” one installed at the moment. It really helps me out when I’ve got car scenes because I can navigate them to the spot I want, press the pause button, and then snap away, without them missing their mark and whatnot.

Still, Jason’s expressions are great whilst driving. Clarissa just tends to stare into the distance like a zombie when she’s in a car. 😉

I pulled from my marriage for Suspect, but I admit that this one had some origins in my high school crush. Who was named Jason, actually. I had to think about using that name, but I went with it and I’ve always felt that they were quite separate. And I still do. But I do still remember seeing RL Jason looking at me one morning in the hall before class. He didn’t know I was watching him watch me, and his eyes were burning. So I imagined Jason thinking about seeing that look in Lilith’s eyes. Plus, you know, Lilith and burning.

I’ll think about the car mod. I need to think about where they go from here and what mode of transportation they use.

Also – did anyone note that she changed into the outfit from the dreams and visions? This is important, you know. 😉

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. I think I just saw the story getting a little darker before it got lighter. I know I am crazy and probably sound like a psycho depressed person.

But it’s like Bella just died, the whole worlds falling down on Lilith, and Jason just had to pretty much give up everything he’s worked for so he could save Lilith. So I guess I just didn’t see something good coming from all of that. But I guess a person can only face so much bad before they need some light in their life.

Anyway, I usually pinpoint exactly what the outcome of a story is going to be, but this time I am stumped. I have no idea whats going to happen. I thought I knew until this post, now I am totally lost.

It gets even darker from here on out. The idea of writing Seth may make me all happy and giggly but he is not a very nice person.

But yes, I suppose they do get a break for a bit. I think that at this point Jason deserves a little kissyface. 😉 And it makes sense for this to be the time for Lilith to realize a few things about him.

Oh yes, Jason loves Lilith very much. One day I’ll have to write the history of their relationship. I think that’d be fun. I can see Jason noticing her, maybe when she’s sitting on a bench in the park reading, and becoming completely obsessed and scheming ways to meet her and stuff. And of course she’s oblivious. Then he manages to ask her out, and he’s very sweet and gentlemanly and she does feel fond of him, and over time they just become an item. She never appears to be as into him as he is into her but they rub along all right for a while. Then she starts to feel restless and a strain starts growing, and that’s around when we meet them.

As for the Seth bit – we shall see. 🙂 And fairly soon – I’m thinking three more updates maybe until his grand entrance. Which, at my current schedule, means that I should spend most of my week of vacation next week working on that update. That is certainly well-timed. 🙂

Jason is so sweet, taking care of Lilith. I think everything is pretty surreal for him right now, especially with the description of the fiery train wheel out of control in his gut. He kissed her?!? Well, I didn’t expect that, but I’m glad he did. I hope Lilith responds okay. I think she needs someone grounded like Jason. I’m glad he didn’t side with the police and “play ball.” Sheesh! I’m saying glad a lot. Drr… new adjective. Happy? Pleased? Oh I’ll shut up here and read the next chapter. Lol.

Seth is the source of the corruption and the framing. As for how that happened – again, maybe a story I could tell one day if I felt like it.

Yeah, Jason was pretty cool. There are still a few living copies of him in my game, don’t worry. 😉

Yeah, I guess I’m not much of one for filling in the concrete details.
