They all think I’m crazy. I’ll show them. I’ll show them who’s crazy.
The fire comes for us all, Lilith.
“Fire.”
“Lilith!”
“Get out of here!”
“Go NOW!”
“Jason?!”
“Keep going! I can’t hold it off much longer!”
Jason was coming, right?
He wasn’t coming. The fire had engulfed the house and there was no way even Jason could get out and he wasn’t coming. He wasn’t coming he wasn’t coming he wasn’t coming and she hadn’t said goodbye and she hadn’t told him that she loved him and she had been horrible to him and he wasn’t coming and he had saved her and he wasn’t coming and the fire, the fire was hot and it burned and it wanted her.
Oh God the pain and she couldn’t take it and he wasn’t coming and she thought that her heart might burst and maybe it already had and she couldn’t breathe and the fire had taken him and it wanted her and maybe she should go join him, it’s not like she could live with this giant sucking hole in her heart anyway and she loved him and she hadn’t known and he was gone and the fire…the fire..
“Alone!”
The black hole in her heart grew to the size of a universe and she fell into it and there wasn’t a Lilith anymore, there was only the fire and the smoke and the loss and the pain.
“Hahahahahaha!”
I…really wanna cry
Ugh. WHY MUST JASON BE SO AWESOME?!
And whoa Lilith’s eyes look sorta awesome in the 3rd pic.

Awesome until the end, he was. /salute
I thought it was very in character for him to focus on action and what needed to be done and to save Lilith. I mean, I’m sure he was wondering where the hell the giant fire came from when the fireplace wasn’t even lit when he went upstairs, but he knew that it wasn’t the time for asking questions about that.
Yeah, I noticed that first thing in that pic and thought it was cool and showed it to my husband. 🙂

Oooooh! This is so chilling, and the theme of being doomed is carried out very well through the whole series. The children are spooky as hell, I keep thinking their next lines will be “come play with us Danny, forever and ever”.
I hope Jason isn’t dead, though. 😦

Thank you. 🙂 And yeah, the Daydream versions of Bella and Emma are quite creepy, and the real Emma was fairly creepy herself.
Jason is indeed dead. I feel like I gave him a good sendoff though. If he had to go suddenly and violently, he would have wanted it to be because he was saving Lilith and he would have wanted to die standing up and fighting rather than being poisoned by Seth. Plus it’s a nice parallel with Sarah. And there’s the whole Fire Death Alone thing. So yeah, everything pointed to fire being his way out.
Lilith is truly on her way through the valley now.

It’s how the story has to go. She has to be alone when she meets Seth.
I saw a church sign the other day that I thought put it quite well – “If you lost ‘everything’, what would you have left?” The point is to push Lilith completely to the edge and see what we find there.

Awww… poor Jason. It is a good send-off–his actions are completely believable, given what you’ve told us about him. I’m going to pretend he died of smoke inhalation instead of burning to death, though, just for my own peace of mind. Now Lilith is alone–I wonder why Seth wants her alone? If he’s going to offer her what he seems to have (immortality), maybe he’s giving her a symbolic death before that happens….even though death happens to everyone, you undergo it alone. He wants her to feel alone–to feel what she would feel if she did have to die, before he offers her immortality. Eh, probably not. Enough of my speculations.
LikeLike
Smoke inhalation is cool and I’m going to believe that too.
You can speculate all you want. 🙂 And yes, Seth does want Lilith alone. She’s been passive and depending on other people since Nightmare. Now there’s no one to save her, no one to tell her what to do next, no voices to comfort her and bring her back to reality.
Now we find out what Lilith is made of.

R.I.P. Jason. I was staring in shock at the picture of Lilith looking at the fire from outside the house. I knew he wouldn’t make it and I just sat there looking at that slide.

I really liked him too. He’d grown on me a lot lately and I admit I’ve found myself not liking Seth quite as much. Although I am still excited that I’ll most likely be writing his first line of real dialogue within the week. And I need to go and play him some anyway and that will hopefully help me get back into Seth fangirl mode – I feel like I would write him better in that mood.
And yeah, I wanted my deaths to mean something. It always irritates me how no one really cares when all their friends get killed in horror movies. Plus, I think that Lilith’s journey resonates more and that she has more at stake if she has lost something real and good and true and if she really feels what Seth has done to her.

Thank you also for commenting. I think I’m pretty much over my little spaz-out now. 🙂
Yeah – I tried writing text for the pics where she’s in the fire but it just wouldn’t come out right, and I took that as a sign that they weren’t supposed to have text. She’s not really rational enough for words at that point.
As for where it goes from here – I don’t think it’s too much of a spoiler to say that the title of the next update is Alone. Fire Death Alone, you know.
It’s set very much in the game’s universe, although I have taken some artistic license. And I have to download some hacks to get lifetime happiness faster and actually play Seth some in the next few days.
Does that help at all?
Also, I quoted U2’s Mysterious Ways and a bit from Jacob’s Ladder (never seen it but it’s quoted in a Sims 2 video I like) in the mouseover text because I’ve realized this last week that they fit really well with the theme of the story.

Very well done, and I love his expression as he is fighting the fire. A valiant death for a good character, in many senses of the word.
I do see that Lilith had to reach aloneness for what is to come, and I am very interested to see how fragile or firm she will be without Jason, without angel-voiced Bella, without her spiffy hat.

Hi, Misty!
I’m a huge fan even though I’ve never commented before.
I’m sorry Jason died, but it maded sense… especially if you look at the meaning of Lilith’s name.
Lilith was apparently the first woman ever created. Although she is never mentioned in the bible as Adam’s first wife, many think she was. This belief is based on judaic mythology and scriptures in the Talmud.
Lilith refused to be submissive to Adam and rejected him as a partner. She was protrayed as being strong, independent, powerful, and equal, although “somewhat” evil and demonic.
I hope she’ll do a fine job when she finally faces Seth. In fact, I’m looking forward to her exposing the real psycho in this story…

You know, I hadn’t actually thought of that until yesterday when I was googling stuff on a female perspective of the hero’s journey and being intimidated at the thought of posting on forums for actual professional writers and found a link to a short story collection titled Lilith Unbound.
I came up with her name by going to behindthename and looking up names with death in their meaning. But now, like so much of what I did without really thinking about it, I see how it fits with the theme.
My Lilith has been very passive up until now. But I’m certainly no Stephanie Meyer – I see that as something for her to grow beyond if she can. It’s understandable for her at this point though, I think – she’s been very traumatized.
And maybe that is the female perspective on the hero’s journey – learning to grow beyond passivity, to start taking action as opposed to being acted upon.
I must admit that when I realized that the story’s title was also actually significant I was very sad that the line “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil, for I am the baddest mf’er in the valley.” was already taken.
And thank you so much for commenting! 🙂 You may want to check out the Valley Sun Sims link on my blogroll – I think you’d fit in well.

Yeah. I remember at the time – it was like he accepted it. Like he said it was okay, that he understood he had to go for the story, as long as I made it worthy of him. And I think I did.

:’-( Rest in peace, Jason.

It had to happen. If it helps – he is around in Howling at the Moon, which is in the same universe as Moonfall and which I do plan to go back to one day.

Yay! That’s good to know! I’ll make sure to check it out once I’m finished reading “In the Valley…”.

That was awesome! Though sad as well. Poor Jason, and poor Lilith especially. She’s been through a lot.

Yeah – this was the most viewed chapter, and I think a few people stopped reading after it. But he had to go, for the sake of the story. And Lilith, man – I pushed her to the edge, didn’t I? 🙂

I totally agree that Jason had to die for the story to work. Such are the sad realities of storytelling. 🙂

Jason died!?!?! Oh no… sadness…. tears…. I mean, it works for the plot, and it’s in character, but poor Lilith and oh Jason so did not deserve to die. He was such a sweet guy. What’s going to happen next?

Yeah, I know. It had to be done, but I hated to do it.
By the way, we watch Walking Dead now, and whenever they start building a character up to make you like them right before killing them, the spousal person says “They’re Jasoning them.”
