make up your mind

“Mr. Sekemoto, so scared to talk to you. To tell you about me.”

decide to walk with me

“He knew I was listening.”

around the lake tonight

“I am always listening.”

around the lake tonight

“Your Jason…he mentioned reports, did he not?”

by my side

“But he did not tell you who they go to?”

by my side

“No, no, I see. He did not know.”

I'm not gonna lie

“I chose you.”

I'll not be a gentleman

“I dreamed of you.”

behind the boathouse

“I planted the thought of you and watched it grow.”

I'll show you my dark secret

“I watched you.”

I'm not gonna lie

“I watched you dream of me.”

I want you for mine

“I watched as you came to me.”

my blushing bride

“Did you not feel me? I called to you.”

my lover, be my lover, yeah

“I called to you through the fog.”

don't be afraid

“I called to you through the flames.”

I didn't mean to scare you

“I called to you through the silence.”

so help me Jesus

“And you answered.”

I can promise you

“Fire cleanses.”

you will stay as beautiful

“Fire purifies.”

with dark hair

“Fire kills.”

and soft skin

“Fire brought you here.”

Oooh, I really didn’t understand it but CHILLINGLY AWESOME POST!! πŸ™‚

  2. berrybetty says:

Wow….you (and of course Seth ;D ) are amazing.
So I’m guessing from now on you’re gonna update on weekends?

    • medleymisty says:

      Thank you!

Yeah – they’re taking way too much time now to get out two a week. This one – this one took…well, I started on it for real yesterday afternoon. Stayed up until 1 or so. Got up around…9, maybe? Started on it again. Worked on it for 12 hours. Said “Screw it.” and published it.

Maybe…if you count actual sitting in front of the computer time and leave out general thinking and note scribbling while at work, this one took maybe 24 hours.

This one actually took four pages of the Valley notebook – ripped out each one as I filled it up and spread them out on the desk in front of the monitor so I could look without flipping around.

So yeah – updating on weekends.

  3. Moni says:

    WOW! This is absolutely chilling.

[haha, it’s all about flame and i said chilling. xD]

But seriously. I’m so freaking excited for what’s coming!

    • medleymisty says:

Thank you! And I’m excited too – I feel like the next one will be better and more up to my usual standard. Already got some pretty good notes on it from working on this one.

  4. carnaxa says:

You are way too hard on yourself. You did a good job on the chapter.

I got chills reading this, every line, every word, you could feel Seth in them. Poor Lilith, to have attracted his attention all this time. He’s like big brother. The entire town seems afraid of him as evidenced by Sekemoto’s reluctance.

Very powerful chapter. I still have goosebumps.

    • medleymisty says:

      Thank you!

It’s just – I don’t think it’s nearly what it could have been. But it’s done, and I will look forward and do better on the next one.

And yes, Seth is very much in control of Sunset Valley.

  5. CGB says:

    STALKER!! πŸ˜€
But really, Seth… I can just imagine his voice so clearly. *shivers*
Seth is… what’s the word I want… I kind of want to go with “omnipotent” – no wait scratch that… maybe “omnipresent??” Hmmm… No, he’s an observer. Watches the populace and chooses them, one by one. At least that’s what I’m getting. Though I guess the title of the post said that…
There’s really no words to properly describe him. Though he IS most likely afraid of death- why else go to all this trouble to stay alive?? He’s a maniac – but I think he thinks it’s justified. Maybe.
As for Lilith, I don’t think she’s as helpless as she seems: she managed to fight Seth’s “mind game” in Water. She’s not all that resistant now, I don’t think… If she really tried she could regain control. Maybe she can get Seth to snap out pf whatever alternate reality he seems to be in?

This is really just a jumble of my thoughts, disregard this if you want.

    • medleymisty says:

He is omnipresent in a way, I would say. Especially in Lilith’s consciousness.

He does not sparkle, but he does dazzle. πŸ˜‰

As for his feelings about death – I think they are rather complicated. It’d be rather spoilery to go into that. My notes for the next update are mostly crazy death talk at the moment, lol.

Lilith…well, we will get a resolution of her story. She still has a ways to go though.

  6. BB says:

*idea that Seth is a total creeper: CONFIRMED*

Wow. This was pretty good *is avoiding using cold words for a fiery story* I am getting more patient with the updates. Its worth it, and it gives me time to go over it all four or five times xD

    <3- BB

  7. sledor12 says:

hiya this story is fantastic im eagerly waiting to see what happens next.

  8. DB loves her Mac says:

For a fiery guy, he spins a pretty chilling web. No wonder Lilith is acting like a marionette; he’s been weaving her strings into a trap.

  9. Nicole says:

Wow. I hope she can escape him or something… He’s just not quite right…

  10. quanta1000 says:

Ohhh! Creepy! Great work. Love his expression in the 3rd photo. lol!
I love how Seth talks, kind of like Shakespeare would talk or something…
When he said ‘Your Jason’, like possessively, in my mind I hear a hint of jealousy…envy in his voice. Maybe that’s because I have it in my mind that Seth is in love with Lilith and the stalker-ish way of his actions seem to prove even more.
    Love it! ^.^

    • medleymisty says:

That pic is actually from Legend. πŸ™‚

I like writing Seth. All crazy and cryptic.

Very good observation about the Jason line. Jason was originally italicized. πŸ˜‰ Won’t spoil more than that.

      Thank you!

  11. tipix7 says:

Oooh, can’t wait to see where this goes (I’m still holding out for the pretty simbabies, no matter what CAS says :P).

I especially enjoyed Seth’s disgruntled face when he said “I am always listening”.

  12. moondaisy101 says:

This is an awesome chapter, Misty! πŸ™‚

I HAD to actually go back to ‘Morning’ and read all the chapters you so cleverly hint at in this one either by pictures or by text (fog, silence, fire…).

How he can control a whole town is beyond me and at this stage not important to me, the fact that he does is what matters… for now.

How he controls Lilith …”a very small and pale Lilith doll”… that is of huge importance to me. Is he using some kind of psychic power, voodoo… is this his ‘alchemy’/separate and join together? I can only guess.

Jason’s death… I’m obsessed by what spurred him into killing Jason by ‘a cleansing fire’. Shannon knew files had been tampered with, Bella was a witness to the fire 50 years ago, but Jason… went through people’s trash, including that of Lilith.

Did he ‘cleanse’ Lilith by taking Jason’s life? Lift off her attachment(s) so she would be ‘ready’ for what he has planned for her?
I’ve always been terrified of what purpose he has for her, but not half as much as I am now.

I now realise he ranted and raved not only about lifefruit, angelfish and deathfish, but also about deathblossoms!
    *nervous smile*
Why do I think that is significant?

My favourite line in this update?
“I planted the thought of you”…

    It’s absolutely brilliant, Misty!!!

    • medleymisty says:

You did note what he was doing in the “I planted the thought of you…” pic, right?

He was planting the Shannon lifefruit. πŸ˜‰ Look at the positioning.

I agonized for hours about how to show that he had subconsciously suggested assigning the story to Lilith – like, when he went to mess with the files did he drop by Shannon’s office on his way out and arrange things on her desk so as to suggest Lilith? Like putting a story she’d written showing that she was capable of more than the birth/death announcements on top of a pile or something?

But then I remembered we are dealing with Seth here. He is not one for clear concise orderly relation of events.

So – we get planting the thought of you and Shannon’s seed being planted.

As for how – he has the genius and handy traits and he’s built more than just the teleporter. And also, you know – he has no qualms about killing people. That makes people rather afraid of him and willing to do what he says.

The Lilith thing is rather the point of the whole story, so I’ll wait before writing a dissertation on that. πŸ˜‰ I will say that at the moment at least there’s nothing really behind it but plain old psychology.

Jason – well, those are excellent thoughts on it. I especially like the idea of “lift off her attachment(s).” There will be more mentions of the separate and join together idea in future updates.

Thank you! πŸ™‚ I do feel a bit better about it now, although I still don’t think that it’s very strong or up to the standard of the previous three.

  13. raquelaroden says:

    Well, goodness.

This is wonderful–it shows how different Lilith is from everyone else, in Seth’s mind. He dreamed of her. Everyone else was a means to his own end, but Lilith is something different. We still don’t know what that is–why he was drawn to her, but we now know why he hasn’t set her on fire (yet).

She answered him….and that made a difference as well. I wonder if he’s pausing to consider that she didn’t answer him out of her own free will? That he’s manipulated her so much that he isn’t getting genuine responses from her–and I wonder if that would matter to him, or if he’s so immersed in his own plans that he doesn’t really care if she’s his by free choice or by complete manipulation. This is certainly a chapter that produces as many questions as it answers! So good!!

    • medleymisty says:

      Thank you! πŸ™‚

While writing this one I found the most perfect Seth song ever in existence. Sharing it would be kind of spoilery at this point.

I’m listening to it now. I asked my husband if he wanted to hear it before bed last night but he was like “Err, I’ve been hearing it all day.” And I got compliments from my sister-in-law on my ability to sing along with it.

It sort of explains a lot about Seth and Lilith, which is why your comment made me want to mention it but is also why I can’t share it yet.

Yay thank you so very much! I am beginning to feel better about it now I suppose. πŸ™‚

  14. catherinesims3 says:

OH, it turned out beautifully, dear! I was pleased to see one of my fave photos from way back – Bella’s tree! πŸ˜€ I will holler at ya later and talk more!

  15. Rad says:

Wow, this is really chills down the spine stuff – I’m so glad I reread the other week and I’d recommend everyone else to do so – sometimes it can be hard to remember the beginning of the story but the last couple of entries have connected so strongly with the early stuff. I LOVE the idea of Seth having watched her and called to her all along, even if it creeps me out at the same time!

We know why Lilith has heard of Seth and some of the many reason she’s drawn to him, but I wonder how Seth knows about Lilith and what has drawn him to her when he (presumbably) initially knew less about her than she knew of him (now he maybe knows more about her than she knows about him?)

So many questions… great stuff though…

    • medleymisty says:

      Thank you! πŸ™‚

And yeah, I definitely did some rereading myself for this update. I was surprised by how the idea of fog actually first showed up at the end of Sunset.

      Seth knows about everyone, lol.

Sorry – I’m feeling kind of drained as per usual after an update.

But thank you so much – also for being there last night when we were wrangling with the reading rock of suck. πŸ˜‰

  16. catherinesims3 says:

Forgot to tell you. I love the title. “Watcher” is a great word. If I were more awake, I’d try to have deep thoughts about it, but never mind.

  17. Liz says:

Heh, Seth’s almost got a hint of a smirk in the last picture. Creepy entry! I love it!

  18. Ambree says:

Wow, chilling update, I loved every line, every pic. Sorry, I don’t have a better comment, but I’m sick right now so that’s the best I can do. Amazing work as always, this was one of my favorite chapters! I love “hearing” Seth talk.

  19. Sims2Fan5921 says:

    Awesome as usual! πŸ™‚

  20. SuziMae says:

Intense… the one word for the blog is intense.

  21. catherinesims3 says:

Another thing I forgot to tell you. That picture of Sam where his arm is bent at that crazy angle. That’s freakin’ awesome. Like a puppet getting his string yanked. Very cool. Dare I say “super neato mosquito”? Yes, I dare! It was super neato mosquito!

  22. Carla says:

Another great installment! I’m really hooked on this. πŸ™‚

  23. CGB says:

Do you perchance read 7 Deadly Sims? Madame_Ugly was on your friend list at LJ and she comments on it sometimes.

  24. Poph says:

Excellent, love how the latest posts are tieing up all the loose ends..I am an OCD freak that means everytime a story or tv programme leaves something undone I can’t stand it until they return to it! LOL, and i love how you you did this, with the silence, fog and fire. I remember that tree with red sky image really well, thought it was strong and chilling even then, now it is furthermore strengthened! Keep em coming! Don’t want to wait til next weekend! x

  25. Lexi says:

I’ve been reading since..last week sometime, and I had to start from the very beggining. I love this story, and i know you hear it alot but seriously. Like, I have an obsession with reading and this is the best peice of writing I have come by!! Do you use Photoshop to edit them? And how long does one update take? I’ve had an idea for a Sims 3 story like this(not a legacy, an actual STORY) for ages but I’ve never had any idea of how to go by it. Seth is my fave, by the way. He’s like a nerdy school boy crushing on the cheerleader. Only it’s a psychotic twist because he killed the jock and went on a killing spree to get to her. πŸ™‚ Great great great work, PLEASE keep it up!

    • medleymisty says:

      Wow, thanks! πŸ™‚

I use GIMP. As for how long one update takes – I used to update twice a week and they’d take about six to eight hours. This was before I got the idea of editing, though. πŸ˜‰ Now I agonize over it and edit it a lot and spend hours looking for the right words. So now I update once a week, and they take – oh, goodness knows how long. I think I worked out maybe 24 hours for this one?

The chaos mod painting from Mod the Sims really helps with the story making – it has animations and various options for things like starting fires. πŸ˜‰

Oh yes, Seth is awesome. πŸ™‚ And that is a freaking great description of him.

Thank you! And I do plan to keep it up. πŸ™‚

  26. meezletoe says:

6th post was so perfect (for the dialogue) D: How do you do that??

    • medleymisty says:

Oh dear – what were the non-dialogue related flaws?

As for how I did it – chaos mod painting. πŸ™‚ Had Lilith run the negative ghost panic animation continuously and watched for the right time for a pic.

  27. Very good! Why isn’t Lillith saying anything? So, you are updating on weekends now? He is kind of creepy, so how was he listening to her and watching her? How did he know her and know where she was and dream of her and even know what she’s dreaming!? Sorry for so many questions there! πŸ˜› I’m kind of confused! Awesome post though and I can’t wait until the next one is up! πŸ˜€

    • medleymisty says:

This update was very much a Seth speech one. Lilith…well, she broke through a bit in the last update but then at the end, her glow flickered went and out. This one – this one was all Seth burning and using up her oxygen.

Yeah – they’re taking way too much time and effort to do two a week now.

As for listening to/watching her- I like the idea of him having completely bugged Sunset Valley or having a system like Batman’s in The Dark Knight. He is a handy genius, you know. πŸ™‚

The other stuff – Valley has always been a surreal psychological drama. πŸ˜‰

      • Oh, so she’s pretty much scared to death! Why doesn’t she run!? Ahhh!!
And the last comment I left before, I was asking if he is still alive then is Emma possibly alive somewhere? I don’t remember excactly what I put though, replying to your reply. πŸ˜›

Aww! 😦 Well, that’s how it is for me sometimes too.

Woah, kind of creepy, he’s probably got all these cameras around town and probably in Lillith’s house!

That is true! Somehow he must be getting into her dreams or just lying, AHHH I want to find out! πŸ˜€

  28. kama674 says:

Wow such an awsome update! Really freaky! I also just love your pictures, they seem so real and so spooky at the same time! Can’t wait for the next update!

  29. missplumbbob says:

Hey, does anyone want to check out my new blog?

Sorry! Not spamming you or anything… just a suggestion!
    πŸ˜› I love you MISTY!

  30. gfitz says:

This was creepy (I keep using that word) but the idea that he watched her, planted the thought of her, that is what got me. Stunning piece of work.

  31. HellyCat says:

Wow!!! Creepily creepy, lol! Delighted 2 discover 4 new chapters. Fab writer!

  32. Seth’s a little beyond creepy in this one. It’s frightening to think that he was everywhere, yet not. He is the Puppet Master of Sunset Valley. πŸ˜€

  33. Katrea says:

    Another repost.
It looks like Seth is still the puppet master. He seems very infatuated with Lilith. I also think it’s interesting the way he seems so normal in real life in comparison to the angry Seth of Lilith’s visions.

    • medleymisty says:

Oh yes – he totally had a crush on Lilith. First interest he’d had in anyone since Sarah.

And yeah, I think that’s part of his whole deal. He seems so normal on the surface, with his cardigan and glasses. But inside – inside all that anger is just boiling away.

  34. RipuAncestor says:

Oh, Seth you creepy bastard you… this was amazing! Again. I’m starting to sound redundant. But it IS awesome.

    Liked by 1 person

  35. So Seth was watching her? How? Was he a ghost? Is he actually alive? Did Lilith lose touch with reality? The fire brought her here? I wonder what he means… I mean, I have an idea, but I’m still not fully sure what’s going on.
