Wow, that certainly means a lot. 🙂 Thank you very extremely much. And we’ve got a ways to go still, I think. And I’m still trying to decide if the end is going to be The End, or if I’m going to do a season two sort of thing.
I am all happy and warm and fuzzy now, so I think it’s a good time to go to bed. 🙂 Good night.
Yes, I would cry too tipix! Misty, your story is amazing and you are a great writer! One of the best sims 3 stories- or maybe the best- I’ve seen! I really enjoy reading it, the plot is great! Her life seems normal until she gets started on her story, and then she gets hounted and her life is in pieces. It’s so sad that everyone that she knows die. I just read your last chapter Fire(it’s awsome!) and I hope that Jason won’t die in the fire. That would be so sad…… Can’t wait for the next chapter!
As for the next chapter – I’m getting started on it, but it’s slow going at the moment. I really want it to be good and it’s so hard to shoot with the fire and everything.
Awww. 🙂 We’ll see, but I really do think that the end might be The End. Although if it helps you feel better, I’ve got another blog registered here and might use it for an actual legacy when Valley is finished.
Wow…I’ve been reading this since Legend was up and I’ve been totally hooked. Checking this blog constantly and reading the pic captions and comments and all. Just made wordpress account last night though (didn’t know I could comment without one :P) and wanted to thank you for giving me some more Simmy entertainment!
As so many others have said. – you’re pictures are AMAZINGLY CAPTIVATING, your writing style is flawless and intriguing, and your mouse hovers are quirky and amusing (;.
I’m so enthused and inspired by this story, and I hope that one day I can read your works not on a computer screen. (if you know what I mean!)
Wow, thank you! I really don’t know what to say. I am certainly very glad that you’re enjoying it.
And the bits about the pictures and the writing and yes, the mouseover text, made me go all squee. I love my pictures and they are very important to me – I’ve always seen Sim stories as being more about the pictures than the text and when I read other stories the pictures are the first thing I notice. And of course writing is also very very important to me, because I also hope that one day you can read my work and not on a computer screen. 😉 And the mouseover text varies in importance from update to update, but I do try to make it entertaining and I’m glad you like it.
So, to sum up – squee omg I love you and you’re awesome! 🙂
Season 2!!!!!!!! Make a Season 2 haha!! I love stories like this!! You make them so AWESOME I just LOVE ghost stories and stuff, there really interesting haha so I can’t wait for updates!! I also like writing stories like this so if I get one up soon, please check it out haha 😀
Please make a season2!!!!
I think the end is going to be The End. I might do other stuff after this, like an actual legacy. But it certainly won’t have this update schedule or this much effort put into it. I don’t think I could keep this up for longer than it takes to tell the story I’ve got to tell.
Thank you. Although I do have to ask where you got the idea that I wouldn’t continue with Valley. I think I broke my brain trying to comprehend a universe in which I wouldn’t continue it. I mean, I have mentally and emotionally committed myself to spending years, decades even if that’s what it takes, on a non-Sims version when the Sims version is finished. 🙂
Can I ask how you make this index? Every post you make, does it automatically add it on to here? Or do you have to add it on? Thanks! Also, this story is really great, it has been giving me chills, especially the new one, forget what its called, but I really want the expansion!! I hope I get it soon! Is it awesome? Does it come with hair and clothes? I really hope I can get it soon!! 😦
I actually wanted to thank you for the link you posted in your tweet the other day. I’ve spent.. well about 3 days actually, reading it. It’s fascinating, amusing, interesting…
I hope you don’t take offense at my posting thanks for that with no relevance to your story, as I do enjoy Valley very much 🙂 (I wouldn’t have seen the link if I didn’t come to the site to read the story!)
Me too – I can actually almost see the end of the scrollbar in that tab now! 🙂 And I’m learning a lot from it – I admit I’m in the capitalism bad most bestsellers crap camp and in reading the posts by other people who feel like that and the responses to them I am opening my mind a bit, which is always a good thing.
And of course I don’t take offense! You can come hang out on VSS if you want to talk more about writing stuff. I like doing that, lol. 🙂
Okay, so, I know this orignally started out as a legacy, right? So I was wondering about the significance of your tagline… “No smoking- the playground is extremely flammable”
It is very intriguing and I wasn’t sure exactly what you meant by it. I know that fire played a big part of the story… but if it doesn’t even have a meaning, if you just kinda liked the sound of it, I won’t be disappointed… LOL!
So, I was just wondering that and I thought, “Who better to explain it to me than the writer herself!” 🙂
The weekend before I started the blog, we went to visit my mother while my brother and his wife and their four little girls were there. So we all went to a playground, and that sentence was actually on the playground sign. 🙂 My husband and I collapsed in laughter but no one else seemed to get why it was so funny. Bah, people who don’t hang out on the net and thus have odd senses of humor. 🙂
I didn’t realize at the time just how much fire would end up in the actual story, lol. I just thought it was funny and it was a line I’d seen recently, so I typed it into the box when I made the blog.
I HAVE NOT DIED MEDLEYYY! Ha if you still remember me. School got in the way and kind of ate me up during the winter. I read updates as they came out but I was so out of it that I hardly understood and decided to wait until the ending to read it all at once. I did. I loved it. You win. Now I’ll read the next schluff you put uppp (:
Okay – I’m just now starting this, and I absolutely love this story! What I’ve read so far has been amazing – I wish I’d been around when you were still writing this (well, I mean, I was around – just not reading this. Ha!)
I’m going to be reading all of these posts – I gotta find out what happens.
OMG – I have your character background information open in another window and was going to comment on it before getting back to work on 10.04. You’ll find a somewhat similar family set up here. 😉
I hope you enjoy it. And yeah – it was a trip, for me and my readers, back when I was writing it.
Based on the quality of the writing in your character backgrounds – and I think a clear similarity in our literary taste 😉 – I imagine I’ll be adding you to my blogroll soon as well. 🙂
Finally got around to reading this story! It’s been on my “To read” list for ages now and I had some free time so I figured I’d hop to it 🙂
Anyway, I really enjoyed it. Your writing style is very unique, especially for a sim story. Lyrical, poetic even. It kind of reminded me of Gertrude Stein, except your work actually makes sense and uses appropriate punctuation 🙂
But yeah, you nailed the creepy horror feel of the story, and you’ve clearly delved very deeply into your characters. I know you took a lot of not-so-constructive criticism for that, but personally, I think that a writer needs to swim through the characters’ veins–or let the characters swim through her veins–or both–in order to write a meaningful work, and if people give you grief for that, they’re just jealous because something is holding them back from reaching that step themselves.
Anyway, let me end by saying that I loved the ending. Conclusive, yet still open, and with those ominous pictures of Lilith and Seth at the end… *shudder* Seriously, great work here. Will definitely start reading 10 very soon 😀
YAY! So glad you came to check it out and read it. 🙂 *hugs*
Awww, thanks. 🙂 You know, I’ve never read any Gertrude Stein – went and googled her and read some of it. I can sort of see a resemblance to when Lilith and Seth go on their stream of consciousness runs.
And yeah – I am all about sentence structure and sounds and word choice – I’ve always wanted to write music in prose form.
I’m also all about creepy horror, so yay! 🙂 I didn’t see the majority of the secrets, so I don’t know what most of them were about. I do know that at least one was criticizing my emotional involvement in the story, and yeah – I didn’t get it either. Why write if you don’t love what you’re writing, if it doesn’t swim in your veins? Which omg – I love that imagery! You’re awesome. 🙂
Glad you liked the ending! I worry sometimes that it was a little too abstract, because by the end Valley had definitely become a very abstract thing.
Ooh, yay, yes! Do read 10, please! 🙂 It’s better than Valley – especially from 10.04 on. I am always learning and growing and improving. And I am open to non-anonymous helpful polite constructive criticism, by the way.
I also had heard about your famous blog a couple of times, and I was interested in what it was about but never got around to start reading it!
But now I’m glad I found this blog! 🙂
You probably heard this too much already, but I just have to say I like your uniqueness with the sims story. I bet you had fun writing it as well!
Oh yes, I had a lot of fun writing it. Definitely one of the best times in my life. 🙂
I’m rather busy at the moment – it’s Anniversary Week. 🙂 So it might be a while, but sure, I’ll check it out.
Err – there’s I Am Not Goopy!!! but I’m not updating it at the moment and I’m not sure if I’m going to. At the moment I’m writing a full text story without pics from the game – here’s the story index.
Sorry but, I felt this was pretty boring, and yes, I did read it all of the way thru. I know the old adage, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all… but everybody else voiced their opinions on how great it was so I thought I’d voice mine.
This took forever to read. And it’s not even that much to read. I still don’t understand why Lilith was how she was. Just cold hearted for absolutely no reason? I didn’t relate to her or even like her in any way… I was actually pretty happy when you killed her. Good job on that front.
Why did Jason love her? It makes no sense when shes just indifferent to everything he says or does.
There had to be something there that made him fall in love with her but I didn’t see it anywhere.
Why did Seths’ daughter get dead eyes like his?
“Fire” “Death” “Alone!” “Hahahaha!” ??? I didn’t understand why that had to be repeated so many times.
It just didn’t seem like consistent story telling to me.
I don’t mean any offense by this but constructive criticism isn’t always bad.
No offense taken. I expect we have very different internal realities and different views of the world, and so we probably have different tastes in art and entertainment and stories.
Thank you for giving it a chance and reading it all the way through and being honest. 🙂
And then a more personal one that I wrote a couple of weeks ago, and as I was writing it I realized how many of Valley’s ideas were in it. – http://medleymisty.livejournal.com/185280.html
I think if any of these chapters ever say “end” I’ll have to cry a little. Really love what you have going with the legacy here.
